Sotto Sotto

Sotto Sotto is a real kingpin of romantic restaurant dining in Bath. Its setting is to die for - just down the way from the Roman baths, the main restaurant is located in a quaint candlelit cellar that has stunning exposed brick walls. It really does look brilliant and the atmosphere is simply perfect. The food is just as great; delicious modern Italian cuisine, served up in fine dining style. With the amount of raving reviews that Sotto Sotto has, you might expect it to be pretty expensive - but you would be wrong. Sotto Sotto is the perfect balance of quality, charm and cost, which makes it a real winner in our books.

The bistro aims to bring the street and cafe culture of Paris to Bath so you can enjoy classic French dishes while you take advantage of the restaurant’s spectacular views of Pulteney Bridge and the River Avon.

Aqua

Aqua is another great romantic restaurant in Bath, this time catering for lovers of Italian food. The Aqua brand has done well for itself, opening up another 4 restaurants around the country. Clearly it is doing something right. We reckon it has something to do with the delicious food that they serve, and the warm, inviting, but classy way the restaurants are designed. The inside of the restaurant is clean, modern and spacious, which is perfect for dining couples.

Serving a range of modern European cuisine, Tilleys offers a set lunch menu, pre-theatre menu and around 46 a la carte options for evening diners. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for with delicious treats including a Warm Tarte Lyonnais and Roasted Aubergine ‘Tunisienne’ and meat-eaters will be salivating at the thought of the bistro’s fresh fish, steak and pork ‘Dijonnaise’. Casanis

Casanis is a bistro style restaurant that serves a wide variety of authentic French dishes. The restaurant can be found on Saville Row, right next to the Fashion Museum, and it is a relaxed, cosy affair. Casanis is very popular, and due to not being the largest of places, it is best to book in advance. They carry a pre-theatre menu, which is perfect for grabbing a romantic bite to eat before heading to see a show.

Opa

Opa is a stunning restaurant, a real gem that’s tucked away in a converted cellar. Everything from the arched ceiling, to the tiled floor screams quality - you really can tell a lot of effort and passion has gone into the design of this restaurant. Opa is a Greek meze restaurant, so again, this is a place where sharing dishes play a huge role. All of the Greek favourites appear, including moussaka, kleftiko and stifado. Greek restaurants are not as common as many other cuisines, so Opa is a decent choice if you’re looking for a romantic restaurant that serves something out of the ordinary.

The Bath Priory

Now this is finishing with a bang! The Bath Priory has one of the priciest menus on the list, but it consistently leaves diners thrilled. The restaurant is set in it’s own lush gardens, so if going for drinks or lunch, try to get a seat on the patio. The ‘surprise menu’ will give you a meal composed of the absolute freshest seasonal produce that the kitchen team can get their hands on, but at £99 a head, it is rather steep. If you’re really looking to splash the cash, you will have no complaints here.
