Abdul’s Indian and Bengali Cuisine is a very, very popular place, and easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Bournemouth. It’s usually packed on weekends, so grabbing a reservation is a good idea. The menu has a good range of mild, spicy, meaty and vegetarian dishes - something for everyone. Abdul’s even has the fearsome Phal curry on the menu (we wonder how many of these they actually sell…), which is even hotter than a Vindaloo. If you’re free on a Tuesday, check out ‘Banquet Night’ - a 5 course meal all for the princely sum of £13.95, which is a bit of a bargain!

The Mint Leaf Indian Brasserie wins its place as one of the Indian restaurants in Bournemouth thanks to the power of word of mouth. Barely anyone has a bad word to say about this place - just check out the hoards of glowing online reviews it has received! Obviously, the quality of food the restaurant serves is the reason for this. The Mint Leaf serves curries that are made to traditional Indian recipes, but they also have an exciting range of modern dishes which appear on the menu under the ‘Chef Special’ category. This restaurant is a great all rounder, and whether you fancy a classic curry or a modern masala, you will definitely leave satisfied.

Starlight serves classic Bengali and Indian cuisine in the heart of Christchurch, near Bournemouth. This Indian restaurant is truly a hidden gem with legions of fans in the local area. Their menu takes advantage of its seaside location and offers a range of fish dishes including tandoori rainbow trout, salmon shashlik and sumunder mass (a truly tasty marinated sea bass dish).
Whether you like your curry at vindaloo strength or prefer a mild korma, you will find a delicious Indian dish that you will love at Starlight.
Starlight, 54 Bargates, Christchurch, BH23 1QL
This restaurant has a really comprehensive menu, which is great if you’re hankering for a curry that you’ve never had before. The level of service at Signature Spice is top notch - the waiting staff are friendly, knowledgeable and give the restaurant a welcoming atmosphere. The food is great, too. Forgot about the usual grease-laden curries you can grab from most takeaways, Signature Spice’s dishes are fresh and cooked to perfection. Definitely a contender for the best curry in town.
Signature Spice, 3 Columbia Rd, Bournemouth, BH10 4DZ
Indian Ocean is a modern, family-run Indian that cooks some cracking curries. This is also a great option if you need a vegetarian restaurant - nearly every dish on the menu has a vegetable option, along with all the usual meat and fish options. The interior of the restaurant is clean and modern, making this a nice and sleek curry house that is perfect for a night out.
Indian Ocean, 4 W Cliff Rd, Bournemouth, Dorset BH2 5EY
South Indian restaurant Dosa World is proof that you should never judge a book by its cover. From the outside, the restaurant does not look that appetising, and even the interior is still a tad uninspired - but boy oh boy is this place delicious! The dosas, which are savoury Indian pancakes, are light and full of flavour, with their being a good range of fillings to choose from. As well as this, there are loads of vegetarian options, so make a note of this if you’re looking for a tasty vegetarian restaurant in Bournemouth.
Dosa World, 280 Old Christchurch Rd, Bournemouth, BH1 1PH
This restaurant offers well-cooked curries at modest prices. Despite the cheap pricing, the quality of service is spot on - the waiting staff are attentive and do all they can to make you feel welcome. Inside, the restaurant has a modern decor and is vibrantly coloured, which makes a nice change from the moodily lit Indian restaurants that have become popular lately. If you want a cheap, no-nonsense curry that doesn’t compromise on taste, then this is the place to head to.
Little India, 244 Old Christchurch Rd, Bournemouth, BH1 1PF
Curry Garden is located in Ringwood, but is easily accessible from Bournemouth. You may want to check Curry Garden out if you’re in the mood for an Indian and want a trip out of town. Inside, the restaurant is cleanly decorated, spacious, and would make a great setting for a date night meal. The main selling point of the Curry Garden is the fact that, as well as a traditional curry menu, it has a lengthy menu of authentic Bangladeshi dishes. Bangladeshi dishes are traditionally made with fish and seafood, so if you love fish curries, this restaurant will be a treat for your tastebuds.
Curry Garden, 10 High St, Ringwood, Hampshire, BH24 1AF
Joy Southbourne is one of a chain of restaurants in Bournemouth offering delicious authentic Indian food. Established in the 90s, Joy Southbourne uses carefully selected ingredients to create delicious flavours and the intense aromas in their dishes.
Their menu includes unique dishes that you won’t see at your average curry house like monkfish bites, Goa green chicken curry and duck jalfrezi. The Joy restaurants have gained an excellent reputation in the Bournemouth area so why not try them and see what everyone is raving about?
Joy Southbourne, 129 Seabourne Road, Southbourne, BH5 2HG
Winton's Bombay Palace is all about authentic Indian food with a creative twist. Its smart interior and fantastic food presentation make dining there a real joy, and the menu is guaranteed to whet your appetite too! From the old favourites to plenty of main courses and side dishes for vegetarians, there's tons to choose from - along with some dishes that you'll not often find in other local curry houses. We love their naan breads stuffed with chicken tikka, along with the chatga chicken from their chef's specials menu: cubes of chicken cooked with hot pickle, honey, garlic and onion and topped with green chilli for an amazing sweet and spicy flavour.
Bombay Palace, 286 Wimborne Road, Winton, BH3 7AT
If you're looking for the best Tandoori cuisine in Dorset, then we definitely recommend that you give Cinnamon in Ferndown a try. Their Tandoori Flamers menu is packed full of dishes all served with salad and mint sauce plus rice or nan, and ranges from chicken tikka to grilled lamb stirfried with garlic and onions, and cooked in a spicy bhuna sauce. We love their "Award Winning Dishes" menu too, where you'll find all sorts of intriguing dishes that you'll not have seen elsewhere...try the skewered meatballs in a sweet and sour chilli sauce, or the fragrant garlic, lemon and chickpea chicken curry. Delicious.
