So, whether you’re looking to get your dancing shoes on and boogie the night away or enjoy tasty cocktails in a stylish venue with great company, here are the places you must try for a fantastic night out.
With its Balinese theme, The Lost Paradise is a beautiful, tropically-decorated bar, club and restaurant that offers a beach BBQ menu with juicy burgers, tender ribs and more, alongside premium tropical cocktails - they make a mean Moscow Mule… The nightclub’s open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with a choice of house and garage, R&B, funk and more, depending on when you visit. Great vibe, friendly people. What more could you ask for?
The Lost Paradise, 30 Exeter Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5AQ
If it’s contemporary British-slash-Mediterranean food in a buzzing environment with fantastic cocktails you’re after, look no further! Bar Blushh has a great reputation for being THE place to watch all the sporting action, and during the day it’s a great place for a family get together...visit in the evening for food and cocktails, and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re eating as well as drinking, try the duck pizza: the shredded duck, hoisin sauce, cucumber and spring onion combo is a winner.
Perfect for a classy date night, Level8ight is not for those scared of heights! Located on the eighth floor of the Hilton Bournemouth, its claim to fame is that it’s the highest bar in South West - and it’s one of our top choices. It’s a beautiful place with sophisticated decor, mood lighting and an outdoor terrace complete with heated seats, and the cocktails are pretty special too: try “The New Forest” with Conker gin, orange blossom honey syrup, peach and ginger sherbet and double cream for a sweet and decadent treat!
Level8ight, The Sky Bar, Hilton Bournemouth, Terrace Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5EL
1812 at The Royal Exeter Hotel is a multi-award-winning lounge bar and restaurant, known for its impressive cocktails. It’s a great choice for a date night or for post-work drinks, and with a food menu of British and French dishes, it’s possible to dine as well as drink in style. It’s a chic, sophisticated place with a cocktail menu to match - it features all the classics as well as some of the bar team’s amazing creations. And if you can’t find your favourite on the menu, we love the fact that they’ll happily make it for you: there’s a huge amount of knowledge behind that bar!

Smokin’ Aces really focus on making their cocktail and whisky bar a fun and relaxed place for everyone: with no dress code, no entry fee, no booking charges and no VIP areas, they want all their guests to have a great time. Every evening you’ll find different bands and DJs playing everything from Motown and soul to hip hop and funk...and we love the fact that there’s no cocktail menu either. Tell them which of the classics you want and they’ll make it...or give them an idea of the flavours you like, and you’ll have a bespoke cocktail created just for you. We love it!
Smokin’ Aces, 103 Commercial Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5RT
The Revolution chain of bars is well-known throughout the country, and Bournemouth’s Revolution bar is a popular choice amongst families and workers during the day, and revellers at night. The chilled daytime vibe gives way to a party atmosphere at night with themed parties, club nights and DJs. We love their selection of handcrafted flavoured vodkas (especially the tiramisu vodka!), and their cocktails are amazing. We’re particularly partial to their Cherry Mojito - a fruity blend of rum, mint, cherry syrup, sugar, lime juice, soda, apple juice and plenty of crushed ice.
Revolution, 163-167 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1JU
Canvas tends to attract a slightly older crowd, offering a unique mix of DJs and live music, cocktails, pizzas, and artisan cheese and charcuterie - a winning combination! It’s a seriously beautiful loft bar with a relaxed vibe until the clock strikes 10...and then the energy’s ramped up for the rest of the evening. There’s free live music as well as ticketed events (they attract everyone from Mica Paris to Mr Scruff) and the cheese and charcuterie sharing boards are out of this world...
Canvas, 45 Poole Hill, Bournemouth, BH2 5PW
By day, Aruba’s a lively, family-friendly beach bar and restaurant with a relaxed vibe: a spacious, light and airy venue serving everything from burgers and biryanis to steaks and salads. Come 10pm, though, this Bournemouth pier location becomes the ultimate party destination: a beach club where the huge central island bar turns out a whole host of cocktails (the pina colada’s our favourite). Expect DJs, plenty of dancing, and even sea views - the balcony’s a great place to cool off after strutting your stuff on the dance floor!
Aruba, Pier Approach, Bournemouth, BH2 5AA
We love the feel of Bar So: its huge atrium skylights give it an almost Mediterranean feel on sunny days, It’s a bar, restaurant and club all rolled into one: in the evenings you’ll find a really mixed crowd there for the DJs who play everything from hip hop to nu disco. There’s salsa classes followed by a salsa night on Wednesdays, and a big dance floor where you can let your hair down. Our top tip? Book a booth by the dance floor so you have a table for the whole night - there’s no additional cost involved...
