Whether you’re visiting Bournemouth’s tourist attractions, indulging in a spot of retail therapy, meeting friends or just enjoying a day out, chances are that you’ll be on the lookout for somewhere to eat. There’s a huge number of restaurants in Bournemouth town centre, but how do you decide which one to choose? Never fear, our TablePouncer bloggers are on hand to give you the lowdown on their top picks in central Bournemouth...
1812 at the Royal Exeter Hotel is named after the year in which the building was built: step inside, and you’ll find a smart and stylish dining room, well-known for its classic French and British dishes with a modern twist. We love the steak, served with amazing triple cooked chips...and we definitely recommend sampling from their cocktail menu too!

Seafood lovers - The Crab at Bournemouth is a must-visit! Located in the Park Central Hotel, this is fine dining in style...as you’d expect from a restaurant with 2 AA Rosettes. The restaurant feels pretty Mediterranean inside, and the atmosphere is lovely and calm. Our favourite dish is the fisherman’s platter for two to share: you’ll get a taste of everything from tempura soft shell crab and rollmops to oysters and squid.

With its bold and bright décor, tasty homemade Mexican food, fantastic service and dishes that cater to all dietary requirements, it’s no wonder Coriander on Richmond Hill is so popular. We’re big fans of its child-friendly nature, with a Mexican kids’ menu and colouring sheets to keep them entertained during their meal. We recommend the gumbo: a well-spiced, Cajun-style chicken and chorizo stew, served with rice, salad & tortillas
Coriander Restaurant, 22 Richmond Hill, Bournemouth, BH2 6EJ
We love the ambiance at Miri’s Restaurant, just a 5 minute walk from the beach: it’s decked out in warm and welcoming colours and offers semi-al fresco dining on warmer days. Miri’s isn’t just family-run, it’s family-friendly too, with a separate children’s menu which includes kids’ favourites as well as European choices. Adults should try the confit duck leg or ham and cheese-stuffed chicken cordon bleu...
Miri's Restaurant, 53 Bourne Avenue, Bournemouth, BH2 6DW
With its red and white checked tablecloths and retro branding, Valentino resembles an 80s Italian restaurant but try the food and we know you’ll be blown away. It’s all about simple, authentic Italian food done well - and with service to match: soak in the friendly, buzzing atmosphere while you enjoy your meal. From fillet steak to cannelloni, there’s something for everyone - just be sure to save space for our favourite dessert: the tiramisu...
Valentino, Exeter Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5AP
With its low level lighting and long wooden bench-style seating, the format of Noodle Bar will be familiar to fans of a well-known Oriental food chain...and the food is incredible. Choose from eight different types of noodles in a choice of two stir fries or five soups, and add one of nine different accompaniments (from mushrooms and tofu to sirloin steak) for a totally tailored meal. There’s starters, sides and more too...we recommend the red curry - make sure you arrive hungry!
Noodle Bar, 3-5 Lansdowne Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1RZ
2 AA Rosette restaurant Arbor at The Green House Hotel certainly stands out from the crowd, with a tree slap bang in the middle of the dining room! Food-wise, there’s plenty of imagination in their menus, and a real focus on carefully sourced, local ingredients. Menus change with the seasons and we can’t get enough of their incredible desserts, which taste just as good as they look...
