Sushi & Roll

Sushi & Roll is well-known for its authentic Japanese fare: it’s a tiny place where everything on the menu is prepared to order before your eyes, with a great deal of care and attention put into every single order. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and they’ll happily talk you through the menu if needed. Don’t leave without trying the Black Tiger Rolls: large sushi rolls stuffed with fresh cucumber and avocado, and an incredibly juicy crunchy fried prawn. Delicious.

Modern sushi Exciting sushi options at Miya

Miya Japanese Restaurant

Miya is a great choice for a big group celebration: its big booth seats and communal tables make dining there a seriously sociable experience. The menu offers everything from authentic Japanese drinks to tempura to sushi, including sushi selection platters if you’re finding it too hard to decide! The soft shell crab roll is a must-try: crispy tempura soft shell crab sitting alongside avocado, tempura and mayonnaise for a truly special experience.

Katsu Bar

Since opening in July 2016, Katsu Bar’s been making a big impact in Bournemouth. Pay them a visit and you’ll find traditional Japanese food with a modern twist, in a light and airy restaurant that has a lovely contemporary feel. Try the spicy salmon and avocado sushi rolls, which are packed full of flavour - and wash it all down with one of a great range of Japanese beers and spirits.

Salmon and crab sushi Some of Nippon Inn's popular sushi

Nippon Inn

The Nippon Inn’s a place to dine authentic “Izakaya” style - an izakaya is an informal gastropub-type dining venue in Japan. So authentic, in fact, that you can choose to dine either at a regular table, or sitting on a tatami mat with your table about ankle height, giving you a true taste of Japan! You’ll find maki rolls, sashimi and nigiri on the menu, including traditional favourites such as their unagi nigiri: rice balls topped with roasted eel in a teriyaki sauce. Be sure to save space for their green tea or black sesame ice cream too...

YO! Sushi

It may be a chain restaurant, but YO! Sushi is always a popular choice, known for its extensive menu which revolves around the room on a conveyor belt that runs between the diners and the chefs. It’s a great place for people watching and the chefs interact with the customers for a great atmosphere. Those who don’t eat fish will find plenty of veggie and meaty sushi to tickle their taste buds - we love the hoisin duck rolls, packed full of sweet hoisin and orange duck, cucumber and spring onion.
